PUGIO DAGGER #2

55.00

Pugio is a dagger used by the Roman Legionnaires. The blade is leaf shape and the handle is very slim.  Kris Cutlery’s Pugio design is no way close to the historical specimen. It was just a design concept with some basic features of the original one - leaf shape blade, slim grip and a horn like pommel.

The wide leaf shape blade is 6-3/4” long, 1-/34” wide and .28”/7mm thick at the base. Laminations on the blade are visible made from forging and fusing 1060 and 1050 steels. Wooden slim grip 3-5/8” long is used and glued to the tang and bolted on top with acorn nut. The grip is wrapped with brown flat paracord (inside strings were removed). Cross guard is wood with black stain. Stubby horn like wood pommel adds to the flavor on this dagger.  Total hilt is 5” long which includes the guard, grip and pommel.

An attractive dagger for use in reenactments, display, collection and use. The blade is tempered
