 Maguindanao kris or Sundang has a 5 wave blade 16-3/4” long. At the base of the blade is a wide chiseling with outer thin grooves extending towards the tip. Upper and lower guard frets are in good shape. Metal band strap called asang-asang or baka-baka on the lower part of the guard is most likely silver and the top one aluminum. Wood handle is wrapped with cord and painted black and showing age. Metal straps attached to the asang-asang is found on both top and bottom part of the handle covered partly by the cord wrap. Aluminum ferrule and butt plate is used on the handle.  

Original wood scabbard has a series of metal bands. From the Mindanao around late 1800 with handle refitted in the 1900 using aluminum material. A relatively small kris which was used by a small stature adult or a teenage person.
