The crowning glory of Madura Keris is its’ beautiful carved handle. Some of the better ones are ivory. The handle itself could sell for $350-$450 depending on the quality and style.

Beautifully carved handle has floral carvings throughout. At the bottom section, is a carved depiction of the Royal Horse with wings spread to its’ side. The whole piece is intact and no chips or missing part.

 The handle is attached to a Surakarta Keris and is not glued to the tang. A copper mendak or ferrule is Surakarta style. Blade is 14-1/4” long with 13 waves called senkelat popular with martial artist. The blade is black due to etching with arsenic  and lime. The nickel component of the blade turns silver color. This laminations have a design called pamor. In this keris it is beras watoh or scattered rice grains.

 Ladrang style or formal style scabbard had a pendok or sleeve at the bottom with some light floral scribing.
