KAI-GUNTO #2529 Japanese Naval Officer sword in World War II has a typical black scabbard and called Kai-Gunto. The ito/wrap on the handle has a nice brown color and still in good shape. Under the wrap is a black lacquered net-like material and typical sakura/cherry blossom mon brass menuki. Plain steel tsuba/guard is black flanked with brass seppa/spacers. Fittings on the handle and scabbard are complete with no damage. A new bamboo peg will be installed on the tsuka/handle before delivery. Over all a nice typical clean Naval officer’s katana. $1390
BLADE: 26-1/4”, two small nicks on the edge, highly polished and most probably stainless steel, silver color brass habaki
HANDLE: 9-1/2”, original wrap, original fittings
SCABBARD: blade fits in nicely, some paint chips on the top & bottom seam area, fittings are all intact
WEIGHT: 2.4 lb. without scabbard
