Made from kamagong or Makassar ebony, the total length is 26 inches. The oval handle is 8-10 inches long and tapers slightly towards the tip with a diamond shape. This design is more similar to a sword blade in that has a "blunt double edge". Because of this feature it is popularly kept in homes for defense use in the Philippines.
Garrotes are excellent tool for training prior to using a bolo or machete. The oval handle and tapered edge are directional similar to a sword not found in a training stick. The heavier weight of the kamagong wood helps familiarize the practioner from the weight of a bladed weapon.
