Katana 26-A (no groove)
The curve blade is a shinogi-zukuri and is 5/16”/8 mm
thick near the iron habaki. The slightly visible
hardened edge called hamon is straight and is
1/4”-1/2” wide. It has 3” round blackened iron
Tsuba with two small holes on top and brass seppa
(spacers). The removable handle is traditionally wrapped
with a poly-blend black or blue ito/ flat cord and has
two bamboo pegs. A beautiful brass dragon
menuki/ornament is set on both sides of the handle.
Blackened iron fittings are used for the
fuchi-kashira/ferrule-pommel , koiguchi/mouth of scabard
and kojir/butt of scabbard. Wood scabbard has a water
buffalo kurikata (knob) and an iron kojiri/butt.
