Butterfly Swords This is an older style from China with long slim blades and actually used in combat historically. The single blade is 15 7/8" long and is 3/16" thick at the base and tapers towards the point. Blades have a hardened sharpened edge and made from 5160 carbon steel. The polished iron steel guard has a long hook as blade catcher and extends below handle as a knuckle guard. Macassar ebony wood handle is 4 1/2" long with polished iron steel fittings on each end. The tang is pinned at the butt. The two swords fit snugly into a thick black leather sheath. The balance point is approximately 2 to 2.5 inches from the guard. Wt. of one sword is 1.4 lbs.
