This is an old and elegantly beautiful knife from Sumatra, Indonesia. The blade is 9 1/8 inches long with 4 grooves at the base with 2 grooves extending towards the point. Iron ferrule on the handle is black due to age. Black water buffalo horn handle has intricate floral carvings at the butt.
Equally nice is the wood scabbard. The upper section is made of the same material as the handle with deeply carved floral designs. There is single brass band on the lower part of the scabbard and a solid black horn at the bottom. Blade does not go in all the way into the scabbard due to the design; about 1/4 inch sticks out. This is normal for most old Sewars. From the 1800.
