MORO KRIS #7284
This Moro kris is known as Sundang in Mindanao. The fifteen wave blade is 22 inches long of folded steel that is not visible. The file work on the upper and lower guard are intact. An iron metal band is strapped around the bottom guard and the back part extends to the bottom of the handle and is covered by three braided bands of rattan and iron ferrule. This is a single piece construction iron metal band found on old kris only. Knob style pommel is made from banati wood.

Original wood *scabbard has a brass band at the bottom. A hole on the upper part of the scabbard is peculiar but actually has a practical purpose. A twine or string is inserted and loops to the top and thus prevent the blade from sliding out specially while traveling. From the late 1800 to very early 1900 era.$645

*A string was wrapped near the throat of the scabbard to prevent it from splitting since the two halves were not glued. It is best not to glue it and possibly add more binding if needed. This way the blade will not get stuck inside.
